Holding a Doctorate in Law and Public Policy, I serve as the Director of Gambling Policy with the Public Health Advocacy Institute at Northeastern University. I am privileged to work with Professor Richard Daynard, Professor Mark Gottlieb, and our team at PHAI as we lead the public health response to the rapid expansion of online gambling.
The gambling industry uses technology and artificial intelligence to deliver rapid play and non-stop gambling. This, coupled with the relentless barrage of gambling advertising and promotions, makes online gambling a dangerous product and a threat to public health.
At the Public Health Advocacy Institute, we are at the forefront of the effort to treat gambling addiction and gambling-related harm as a public health concern. We are part of an international movement to replace the failed "responsible gaming" model with comprehensive public health regulation and reform.
